About PJrGT

Providing a competitive environment for all our local junior golf athletes
to play and compete against their piers.

Founded in 2016, Pacific Junior Golf Tour (PJRGT) was created with a specific purpose in mind: to gather the junior athletes of our community and teach them to play a great round of golf while building character and confidence. From ages 8-18, we instruct and prepare our athletes for a potential future in college golf and beyond. Our goal is to provide an opportunity to play and compete in local area events while creating a unique, one-of-a-kind experience that will be remembered for a lifetime. What motivates us most is watching each golfer improve his or her game throughout the course of the season while having the time of their lives in the process. After all, golf is fun! From their first tee at age 8, to their last swing after graduation, we will be there supporting and cheering for our PJRGT golfers every step of the way!

Pacific Junior Golf Tour is a Washington company founded and directed by Jeff Hill. Our headquarters is based out of University Place, Washington. We are located just 10 minutes from the first tee at Chambers Bay, the site of the 2015 U.S. Open. We are happy to claim this beautiful corner of the PNW as PJRGT’s home.

We look forward to working with you and all of our junior golf athletes this season!

Meet Coach Don Gufstafson

Don Gufstafson, or “Coach Gus” as many of his players refer to him, is the high school golf coach at Life Christian Academy in Tacoma, Washington. Coach Gus has volunteered with the PJrGT since it’s beginning and brings his wealth of knowledge and teaching to mentor and instruct our players throughout the tour season.

Don’s 17-year coaching career at LCA has been quite impressive, quickly turning around a program that had not produced state bound athletes to becoming LCA’s first state champions after only 2 years. In 2004, Coach Gus had the honor of coaching Chris Tenny and Andrew Putnam (Andrew is PGA Pro Golfer Michael Putnam’s younger brother), both went to state and finished very well. Andrew was state champion 3 out of his 4 years at LCA. Following the boys impressive 5 year run, he took the girls on a run of their own, creating 4 state champions between 2007 and 2011.

In 2010, Don was awarded the National Coach of the Year for his outstanding achievements for creating young champions in the sport of golf. In 2015, he was honored by Life Christian Academy to be inducted in their sports Hall of Fame.

We asked Coach Gus, “What does it take to produce a champion and to have a career in college golf and beyond?” he said, “play a lot of golf, you must participate in a junior golf tour in the off season to keep your game sharp.” Don loves to share his knowledge with our young athletes and we encourage each of them to pick his brain for pointers as often as possible. Don believes in the Pacific Junior Golf Tour, he told us, “Jeff Hill is amazing, he doesn’t do this tour for the money, but for the kids, he loves golf and loves providing a path for our young athletes to achieve their dream.”
